To help us understand how earthquakes happen we used an Oreo! The bottom biscuit represented the lower mantle, the creamy filling represented the magma in the middle and the top biscuit represented the upper mantle and the Earth's crust.
We broke the top biscuit (the Earth's crust) and move the broken piece in different ways to form fault lines and crevasses. When we moved one half of the biscuit under the other half it pushed the biscuits up; just like real life how volcanoes are formed!
